This is my first painting using cold wax medium, which is a substance with the look and feel of shortning ie Cristco.  It's purpose is to change the texture of oil paint, making it thicker and more textured.  The wax gives the surface a velvety finish.   It can also be polished to a high gloss.

This was painted on a cradled panel, since paper and canvas are not suitable due to its tendency to crack when bent.  But it is stable on a solid substrate.

I enjoyed working with these materials, however this panel is rather heavy.  So I'll probably work on smaller pieces in the future.
