Purple tights and blue shoes

The title is a riff on a phrase describing an outfit worn by Elaine de Kooning in the 1950's in the book Ninth Street Women by Mary Gabriel. The description was “blue tights and purple shoes.”  Needless to say, she was ahead of her time. Actually this painting reminds me of a Mary Quant dress I wore in 1967. It was purple and green color block with round green buttons down the back. And worn with purple tights and blue shoes.
